Moving On... What is My Purpose in Life?

Watch the video below.  As you are watching, think about the dog's purpose in life.  What was he being trained for and what did he end up doing?  How did the trainer impact the dog's life?

How can you apply this to your life? And to your future? Who are the people that have impacted or will impact your life?

(Post your thoughts)

Now read the words to the song... What is the message that you can take with you to middle school?  How can this song help you when we are not together? (Post your thoughts)

Do I Make You Proud – Taylor Hicks

I’ve never been the one to raise my hand,
That was not me and now that’s who I am

Because of you I am standing tall,
My heart is full of endless gratitude,
You were the one, the one to guide me through,
Now I can see and I believe it’s only just beginning

Chorus-
This what we dream about
But the only question with me now
Is do I make you proud
Stronger than I’ve ever been NOW
Never been afraid of standing out
But do I make you proud

I guess I’ve learned, to question is to grow
That you still have faith, is all I need to know
I’ve learned to love, myself in spite of me
And I’ve learned to walk, the road that I believe

This what we dream about
But the only question with me now
Is do I make you proud
Stronger than I’ve ever been NOW
Never been afraid of standing out
But do I make you proud

Everybody needs to rise up
Everybody needs to be loved, to be loved

This what we dream about
But the only question with me now
Is do I make you proud
Stronger than I’ve ever been NOW
Never been afraid of standing out
But do I make you proud

This what we dream about
But the only question with me now
Is do I make you proud
Stronger than I’ve ever been NOW
Never been afraid of standing out
But do I make you proud

Do I make you proud?
Do I make you proud?

Him doing what he did before all the training is almost the same as what he is doing now. Helping the disable do something they love. While she is doing that she is doing what she loves.Everybody has to move on Nobody can stay a child forever. Like us moving to middle school is just a hint closer into how you are gonna change other people's life. For instins I love cooking and baking. I might changes somebody mind and teach them how to cook. All the teachers and everyone in your life is helping and you should love and thank them as many times as possible because soon you will be the adult you always wanted to be.

Great perspective! The dog would not have been directed to help others if he had not been trained. Though the dog was not able to help disabled people the way the trainer wanted him to do at first, the trainer used the dog's interest and love - surfing- to help a disabled person in another way. Every person has a purpose in life and the people that you have interactions with can impact your life and help YOU to make a difference in someone else's life.

I think that it is great that they train dogs to help the disable people. Like the dog help with suffing with that boy. It is sad that the dog did not do what it was train as a puppy to do but it is still a great thing that the dog helps people anyway. It is nice that the dog raised $10,000 ,and 3 years of physical therapy for the boy. They should train the dogs how to not be chasing birds because that is a rick to a disable person, but i really think that it is good to train dogs to help the disable people. They should keep on doing this for years, years, and years.:):):)

The message I can take with me to middle school is that I feel that I have done a good job and that I would make Mrs. "C" as happy for me as She could ever be. This song will help me when I'm not with Mrs. "C" because I will remember that the only reason I'm even in middle school is because of Her. I'll know that she is happy for me. So, She will be proud of me that I made it through 5th grade and I'll be proud of Her because she was the one that got me through. If it weren't for Mrs. "C" no body in this class would graduating. You've done a good job Mrs. "C" and THANK YOU FOR BEING THE BEST TEACHER YOU CAN BE!!!!!!!!!!

I think the message i can take with me to middle school is that no matter how bad things get, ALWAYS think positive and ALWAYS try to do your X-factor. Also this song help me move on to middle school because everytime i hear it i will think of 5th grade, funny times, Exciting times, and even sad times. But most of all i will think of my great teacher Mrs."C", because without her I would have never made it through fifth grade. I also would have never made it through TAKS. Or i wouldnt have gotten a 100% on it! Thinking of the ABC'S during TAKS really helped me!! 5th grade has gone by so fast and i cant believe im graduating! I am also very proud of myself for trying my best and making good grades!! Escpecially when i got a 89% on my progress report one time this year and then my goal was to bring that grade up so i did, i brought it up to a 99% on my report card. So i guess what im saying is I would not have made it through this year without my friends my teacher and my family!!

Ditto! I wouldn't have made it through this year with you all, my dear friends and of my family. Isn't it wonderful to know that you have so many people you can count on all year long? You are one special young lady with a wonderful outlook on life and I love to hear your perspective! Keep on reaching for the stars AND remember the ABC... Love Ya :)

Dear Mrs. C,
I have a problem, and I think you may be able to help. I only have five boxes of kleenexes left, and I think we may need more for the day of graduation. How many boxes of kleenexes do you have? Sniff, sniff...
